Weathermatic Unveils SmartLink Connect to Enable Remote Management of 2-Wire and Other Irrigation Controllers

Weathermatic, the leader in smart irrigation technology, announced the launch of SmartLink Connect, a groundbreaking new product line that revolutionizes how landscapers manage irrigation systems. SmartLink Connect enables landscape professionals to manage non-Weathermatic controllers via the SmartLink cloud-connected platform. It provides a seamless and affordable way to integrate existing irrigation systems – including complex 2-wire set-ups – without replacing controllers or touching in-ground decoders.

Weathermatic revealed the first product in this new lineup, SmartLink Connect for Hunter® 2-Wire Controllers, on-stage at its annual SmartCon partner conference in front of nearly 300 landscape professionals. The patent-pending product is a simple, plug-in adaptor that instantly enables remote control of a Hunter® 2-wire controller via the SmartLink app. A small box (approx. 3” x 2” x 1”) plugs inside the existing controller box and links to the SmartLink Aircard, providing secure, cellular-based cloud communication with the SmartLink app.

SmartLink Connect is the first solution of its kind that allows software-based remote control of another brand’s hardware. By eliminating the need for costly replacements and complex installations, SmartLink Connect empowers landscapers to enhance their irrigation management while reducing costs and streamlining operations. This launch solidifies Weathermatic’s commitment to equipping professional landscapers with the tools to build world-class irrigation divisions that maximize customer satisfaction and profitability.

“SmartLink Connect is a true game-changer,” said Lex Mason, President at Weathermatic. “For years, landscapers have struggled with managing multiple irrigation systems across different brands. Now, with a simple plug-in adaptor, they can bring complex sites online without needing to replace an entire 2-wire system that can cost contractors upwards of $30,000 per site.”

SmartLink Connect is currently exclusively available to landscape maintenance contractors in Weathermatic’s Premier Partner Program via a cost-effective monthly price. SmartLink Connect for Hunter® 2-Wire Controllers, as well as additional products for other Hunter and Rain Bird controllers, will be available to more landscape professionals in summer 2026.
