Weathermatic announces key new hire

Matt Johnston joins Weathermatic as Vice President, Distribution

Weathermatic has appointed Matt Johnston to the position of Vice President, Distribution. In this newly created role, Matt will be responsible for collaborating with Weathermatic’s industry partners to bring innovative smart water management technology to a vast network of landscaping companies.

Weathermatic’s wholesale division has been led for 25 years by industry veterans Bill Savelle, Executive Vice President of Products, and Fred March, Vice President. Matt’s appointment represents Weathermatic’s continued growth and provides dedicated leadership in the channel. Meanwhile, Bill will be able to focus full-time on leading product development, and Fred will continue to serve in a leadership capacity alongside Matt.

Bill says of the appointment: “Matt’s hiring comes at an exciting time in the 79-year history of Weathermatic. His experience and skills will enable us to foster even stronger relationships with our distribution partners. It’s a win-win that will bring innovative water management solutions to even more landscaping companies.”

Matt will bring his years of experience in the green industry and beyond to deliver innovative irrigation solutions to the market. Matt graduated from Texas A&M University in 1998 with a BS in Industrial Distribution. He worked in the building products industry before transitioning to the green industry in 2016. Matt is passionate about collaborating with channel partners and contractors to help them expand their businesses. He finds the relationships within this industry and the opportunity to positively impact the environment truly exhilarating. Outside of work, he cherishes his 22-year marriage to his wife Niki, and is proud father to his son Jake (22) and daughter McKenna (19).
